Day 8 Hill Tribes

We started our morning with worship with the girls on the front porch. So refreshing and beautiful to hear their sweet voices singing uninhibited with love.

We then headed out as a group with all the girls up into the mountains to visit two hill tribe villages where some of the girls families live. Most of the people who live in these villages are farmers who walk far distances to care for their crops by hand. They live in shacks that have dirt floors and bamboo walls.

A picture can sometimes say a thousand words...

Nut (one of the Grace House girls) with her younger sister in one of the villages.

We stopped in to visit Mai's family (mai is in right corner) but her family was out farming.

Paul and Jesse taking a break on Jon's back.

Paul and some of the Grace House girls posing for pictures.

The ice cream motorcycle man happened to be cruising the village (same music and everything!!) We bought the entire group (thirty or so people) a cone for about 150 baht, which is equivalent to less than 5 U.S. dollars.

Carrot enjoying her ice cream.

Carrot with her mom and brother in their home.
Paul and Kimberly with Mai.

On the ride in between villages Taeng Mo took a cat nap on Kimberly and Kyle.

A house on stilts. The view was incredible, but no plumbing.

I wish I had Jesse's photo to give you the full picture. This little girl (she can only be perhaps a 1.5 years) sitting on her little bench in her house. The fire pit behind her with the family pots and pans up against the slotted wood wall. It is almost unimaginable.

Treking to another part of the village as a group.

One of the girls fathers with a handmade horn out of (i think) bamboo.

Paul and Mai. Our true mission was to show love to these girls and their families. It is hard to imagine, but I hope we encouraged them in some small way. We showed them that someone does care and does love them.
